JAKARTA - Substack officially launched the Notes feature, a new space where you can publish short-form posts and share ideas with other authors and readers, to all users.

Notes are expected to help the author's work be found by more new readers on Substack. With Notes, you can share links, images, quick thoughts, and snippets from Substack posts.

"Apart from being light and fun, we hope Notes will help writers increase their audience and revenue," the company wrote in its announcement, quoted Wednesday, April 12.

Launched a few weeks ago to a small group of authors for testing, Substack hopes users can report bugs or other imperfections to fix going forward.

Under the Notes tab, you can see two different feeds, namely "Home" and "Subscribed". The Home feed will display Notes from authors you subscribe to and authors they recommend, meaning you'll see notes from people you don't know. Meanwhile, the Subscribe feed will only display Notes from people you subscribe to.

Instead of posting your Substack on Twitter, Substack believes Notes will reach an audience that is "already invested in the Substack ecosystem and only one click away from a subscription".

After the previous drama, Twitter said that the Elon Musk-owned platform had lifted back its restrictions on Substack, so some writers may choose to keep using Twitter to share Substack links.

“Notes will help posts find a valuable audience of authors and readers who are already invested in the Substack ecosystem and are one click away from subscriptions,” concluded the company.
