Bug in Google Calendar Presents Unclear Events Every Day

JAKARTA - A few days ago, Google Calendar reportedly experienced a bug, in which the calendar created random event markers from messages in Gmail.

This news was first delivered by 9to5google, where several users submitted their complaints on Twitter about the bug that had occurred.

Y’all, my @googlecalendar has started creating random events based on emails I’ve gotten … only it’s just like, random marketing content and newsletters.

According to existing complaints, Google Calendar displays random events every day based on Gmail messages that are not always related to a particular event.

While there's no clear pattern with this bug, it seems emails mentioning a specific date could be one trigger.

However, various types of emails including delivery notifications, purchase receipts, and newsletters appear to appear as calendar events throughout the day.

The exact cause is unknown, when responding to users who complained on Twitter, Google also did not clearly disclose what happened.

However, the fix should be fairly simple. Go to Google Calendar settings under Settings > Events from Gmail, it will stop creating these events while turning off the checkbox for "Automatically add events from Gmail to my calendar".

This fix has also previously been used to stop spam invitations from appearing in 2019.
