JAKARTA - DoorDash, an online food ordering and delivery platform launched a new safety feature in its app to help customers and senders stay safe before, during, and after booking.

Last year, DoorDash launched SafeDash, an in-app security device backed by ADT, which helps users feel safe and get help in seconds when they desperately need it.

But now, the company has announced five launches of new safety features in its app. The five features are:

SafeDash Check-In

The SafeDash Check-In feature will detect if delivery takes longer than expected, then the app will automatically check if the sender is fine. The new check-in feature was originally launched in New York City and Washington before being launched across the country

Real-Time Safety Alerts

When an emergency such as a disaster occurs, DoorDash will notify senders, customers and traders of the incident and immediately suspend operations near the affected areas. The Real-Time Safety Alerts feature will be available in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Safe Chat

With this feature, if the DoorDash system detects inappropriate or offensive language in chats on apps, people sending messages will receive warnings that remind them of potential consequences. People receiving messages will be automatically given the option to report problems, even they can cancel assignments from non-victim shipments. SafeChat is now active in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Safety Reporting

With this feature, if the customer makes the sender feel insecure, they can immediately report it via in-app chat or call for an investigation. The sender can also block future shipments. This feature is available for Dashers in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Porch Lights Reminders

DoorDash will send a notification to customers and ask them to turn on the terrace lights or home when the sender is close. The Teras Light is now active in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

"While we continue to dream big of developing the best income platform for additional income, we are excited to roll out our biggest security product update, giving Dashers greater peace of mind while traveling," said Rajat Shroff, Vice President of Products at DoorDash in an announcement on its official website.
