JAKARTA - Apple will reportedly embed the latest Mac Pro with a chipset that is two, even four times more fierce than the unreleased M2 Max chip.
According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who is aware of this information, Apple is stepping up high-end Mac testing in preparation for launch next year.
The computer is claimed Gurman will be equipped with a 24-core CPU, 76-core GPU, and 192GB memory. The centri operating system will use macOS Ventura 13.3, the first version that was launched last week.
Gurman estimates that Apple will eventually let customers choose between two different chipsets when configing the Mac Pro.
Dubbed the M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme, each of the two packs a 24-core CPU and 48 cores, also equipped with a 76-core GPU and 152-core.
"At least two or four times stronger than M2 Max," Gurman said in his Power On bulletin quoted from Engadget, Monday, October 24.
The memory itself will cover 256GB. When compared to the first generation M2, it comes only with an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. In fact, the M2 Max only features 12-core CPUs and 38-core GPUs.
But before the new Mac Pro arrives, Gurman expects Apple to announce the latest version of the MacBook Pro of 14 and 16 inches, as well as a new Mac mini.
Gurman said Apple's newest high-end laptop will feature the company's new M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, while the mini Mac will be delivered with the same silicon M2 as the one found inside the 2022 MacBook Air.
Lastly, Gurman noted that Apple has also internally tested the M2 Pro variant of the mini Mac, although he did not mention whether the company plans to release the computer version. The device will arrive in the coming months.
