JAKARTA - YouTube announced that it will integrate the songs you save on YouTube or YouTube Music into video applications.

When you watch YouTube Short, you can tap the voice button in the lower right corner, that button will then take you to another Shorts page that also uses the sound.

Now you'll see a "Save" icon appear on that page. The icon allows you to re-visit the song later on YouTube or YouTube Music in a playlist called "sounds from Shorts."

On the other hand, reported by TechCrunch, if you listen to the song you want to use in Shorts later, you can save it to the playlist to be accessed from Shorts.

With Sounds on Shorts, YouTube has finally taken advantage of what TikTok doesn't have, namely all YouTube video repositories and music streaming services.

But it seems TikTok is also eyeing song streaming services. In May, TikTok's parent company, ByteDance submitted a trademark app to the US Patent and Trademark Office for a service called TikTok Music.

The filing suggests that the trademark can be applied to a mobile app that allows users to buy, play, share, and download music.

It will also allow users to create, share, and recommend playlists, comment on music, as well as live streaming audio and video. ByteDance has filed a "TikTok Music" trademark in Australia last November.
