JAKARTA - In early August, Apple confirmed that it would expand its ad impressions. Back then, the company said that Apple device owners would see more ads in the App Store.

Apple is now placing ad slots on the main 'Search' tab, in Search results, and another new one is on the "Today" tab of the App Store.

It doesn't stop there, after adding ad slots in the App Store, Apple has finally added and tested internally search ads on Maps, which can show recommendations when you search for restaurants, shops, or other nearby businesses.

As Bloomberg's Mark Gurman notes, ads on Maps can work the same way, with businesses paying to appear at the top of search results when users enter certain search terms.

Continuing with the placement of Apple ads on Maps, the latest report says that it will be coming in the early months of next year. In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman said the company's engineering team had begun preparing software to support search advertising.

“Consumers will reportedly see Apple begin to integrate those jobs starting around 2023,” the report from Gurman said.

The addition of ads on Maps will allow companies that work with Apple to appear in top searches. For example, when a Japanese restaurant collaborates with Apple, then when people search with the keyword “Sushi” or “Japanese restaurant”, the name of the restaurant will be at the top of the search.

Apple first introduced ads in the App Store in 2016, and also featured apps in its Stocks and News apps.
