JAKARTA - Have you ever downloaded an image, but when you looked at the file type, it was not JPG, JPEG, or PNG, but in WEBP form.

WEBP does display an image quality approximately two-thirds higher than the same size image rendered in JPEG or PNG format.

Unfortunately, the WEBP format is not always supported by some of the most common image opening tools.

If your device doesn't support the WEBP file type, maybe some of these methods can help you convert the file type to PNG or JPEG format.

Using Microsoft Edge

To do so in Microsoft Edge is quite easy. Here are the steps you must take.

Open the web page containing the WEBP image, highlight the URL, then "Copy." Run Edge. On the address bar, click "Paste," then press Enter. Then click on the three dots in the upper right corner to open the "Settings and More" menu. Look through the options and click on “reload in internet explorer mode” it will be near the bottom. Right-click the image, then click "Save Image As." Navigate to the destination folder, then click "Save," and your images will be downloaded to that folder.

Using the conversion tool in the browser

If the first method still confuses you, there is an easier way to convert the WEBP file type to JPG.

Download as picture as usual in WEBP form. Once done, open a photo Conversion Tool like convertio or iloveimg. Select the WEBP image that you downloaded earlier. On the right, select the file type you want, JPG, for example. Click Convert, and wait a few moments. If so, download the file.
