JAKARTA - Since the COVID-19 pandemic, movie audiences from online streaming platforms have increased. Currently, there are many movie streaming platforms available, ranging from Netflix, HBO, Disney+, Vidio, and so on.

Neither players nor filmmakers always ask us to watch it from official or legal sites. In addition to avoiding piracy of films that are considered copyright infringement, it turns out that there are also other reasons.

In early July, the fourth season of one of the most anticipated series, Stranger Things, was released. But that didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the fans.

Kaspersky experts have detected spam emails that also abuse the popularity of Stranger Things. These emails are used to sell products of suspicious quality and are distributed via promotional emails without the recipient's consent.

Therefore, Kaspersky experts suggest several things to avoid these scams, such as the following:

Avoid links that promise to premiere a movie or TV series. If you have any doubts about the authenticity of the content, contact your entertainment provider. Check the authenticity of the website before entering personal data, and only use official and trusted web pages to watch or download movies. Double-check the URL format and spelling of the company name. Pay attention to the file extensions you download. Video files will never have an .exe or .msi extension Use a reliable security solution, which can identify malicious attachments and block phishing sites.
