JAKARTA - After reaching the fifth generation, Sony seems to be reviving the PS3 peripheral line by making it compatible and natively connected to the PS5.

According to IGN, Sony filed a patent at the end of June, which implies that the PS5 may receive some new compatibility features in the future.

As Gamerant discovered, the patent is entitled "Systems and Methods For Converting Old Code To Updated Code," the patent focuses on making obsolete peripherals that will work with the PS5 console.

Sony's media remote control, EyeToy, the previous generation DualShock controller are most likely among the accessories that can be used again on the PS5.

Currently, the PS5 is not compatible with the PS3, and games from that generation can only be played on hardware via PlayStation Plus streaming, otherwise you won't be able to play them.

Having said that, Sony may still be looking for a solution to provide native support for the PS5 to play PS3 titles someday. While it's not yet known whether that will happen or not, this patent may indicate that compatibility is in the works.

In addition, if you want to reminisce about playing old games, you can subscribe to PlayStation Plus and get new games every month.

This July, there are special titles for PlayStation Plus subscribers, namely God of War for PS4, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker for PS4, as well as Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, for PS4 and PS5, don't miss it.
