JAKARTA - Over time, Android Auto continues to get more and more capable updates, but some old features have to stop now.

Over the past week, Google has been preparing to say goodbye to the overall Android Auto for Phone Screen experience.

The feature enables a simplified in-car Android interface and is safer to use when mounting the phone on the car dashboard, a great feature for those who don't have a new car with a version of Android Auto running on the infotainment screen.

In fact, this isn't Google's first warning to put Android Auto for Phone Screen in exile.

The feature was deprecated last year when the company disabled Android Auto for Phone Screen on newer Android 12 devices.

While users with older devices will still be able to access the app, Google didn't say when or how long the feature would last.

However, Google confirmed that Android Auto for Phone Screen is being removed, but declined to share any information about when the app will stop working.

"For people using Android Auto in supported vehicles, the experience won't be lost and in fact, we announced a major upcoming UI upgrade recently at Google I/O," Google told 9to5Google.

"For those using the experience on mobile (Android Auto mobile app), they will be switched to Google Assistant driving mode which is the next evolution of our mobile driving experience. We don't have any further details to share at this time."

Unfortunately, Google does not present a replacement for Android Auto for Phone Screen.

Unless the user is willing to spend money to buy a new vehicle equipped with Android Auto, or a device that adds it to an existing vehicle.

The tech giant does have other options designed for use in cars.

Like the Google Assistant Driving Mode that comes with Android 12 and offers an optimized driving experience for Google Maps and Google Assistant, both are also integrated with media apps.
