JAKARTA - Ubisoft plans to move development of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake to its studio located in Montréal, Canada. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a 2003 action-adventure video game developed and published by Ubisoft.

Revealed in March 2003, released on Game Boy Advance, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox and Microsoft Windows in November 2003.

The game was originally being worked on at Ubisoft's India-based Mumbai and Pune studios and was later moved.

"The development of Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time Remake will now be helmed by Ubisoft Montréal, the birthplace of the epic Sands of Time trilogy," the developer said in a statement on Twitter.

This decision is an important step that builds on the work that has been accomplished by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai. "Now they will take the time they need to regroup within the scope of the game to give you the best possible experience for an all-time remake of the classic."

The Sands of Time remake was originally slated for release in January 2021 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Still no word on optimizations for Series X/S and PlayStation 5.

Due to the pandemic, Ubisoft delayed the release date of The Sands of Time a few months before making the decision to delay the release of the game by the stated time limit.

Ubisoft's last update on the game came in October last year, which reassured fans that the developer was still working on the game. "Rest assured, that we will update you on the progress in future updates," he concluded.
