JAKARTA - Twitter bosses reassure their employees that the company is not "hostage" to Elon Musk's bids in the mass media, that he wants to buy the platform.
Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal in an internal question-and-answer session via the Slack app asked employees to stay focused and that as workers, they can manage what happens, Reuters quoted an undisclosed source as saying.
Agrawal said the company's board was continuing to review Elon Musk's offer, however, he could not share more information.
Elon Musk offered to buy Twitter for $43 billion.
One Twitter employee asked how the company decided to offer Musk on the board of directors.
"Shall we start inviting any billionaires to the board of directors?" asked one of the Twitter staff quoted from Antara.
Agrawal said the directors acted in the best interests of shareholders.
"I have a strong view that the people who are important to our service, their voice is something important, which we have to underline so that we can learn and become better," said Agrawal.
Another employee asked how Agrawal rated Musk's definition of free speech and whether it aligns with Twitter's approach.
Agrawal didn't answer the question directly, however, stating that the company is focused on improving healthy conversation on the microblogging platform.
A Twitter spokesman declined to comment on the meeting.
