El Salvador President Cancels Attending Miami 2022 Bitcoin Conference, Here's Why!

JAKARTA – El Salvador's number one President Nayib Bukele canceled his plans to attend the 2022 Bitcoin Conference held in Miami. The celebration of the largest Bitcoin community will start from April 6 to 9, 2022.

Nayib Bukele sent a letter of absence from the Bitcoin celebration, he considered the increasing violence between gangs in El Salvador to be the cause of his absence at the Bitcoin event. Bukele himself declared a state of emergency in his country since 12 days ago.

According to Dailycoin, the first wave of crime began on March 25, resulting in 87 deaths in 72 hours. Local authorities have arrested nearly 7,000 gang members since then.

President Bukele has made Bitcoin the official medium of exchange in his country. He himself acknowledged the complicated situation that occurred in El Salvador and decided to cancel his flight to the Bitcoin conference in Miami.

"I have recently made the decision to cancel my participation in the conference due to unforeseen circumstances in my home country which require my full attention as president," Bukele said.

The Bitcoin Miami 2022 conference is hosted by Bitcoin Magazine. The event is predicted to be the biggest Bitcoin celebration in history. President Bukele himself was appointed as one of the keynote speakers and will discuss a number of topics such as the efforts made by El Salvador in adopting BTC, as well as the benefits that can be obtained for its citizens.
