Unlock Your IPhone While Wearing A Mask Using Face ID, Here's How

JAKARTA - Nowadays, when you are in a public place that requires you to wear a mask, it may be very difficult to use Face ID (Face ID) to unlock your iPhone. You can just type in your passcode to unlock it.

However, thanks to iOS 15.4, you can finally use Face ID and still wear masks. As long as you have an iPhone 12 or later running iOS 15.4, you can now go into your phone's settings and enable the new feature.

This feature uses features around your eyes to authenticate that it's really you so you can finally use Face ID while wearing a mask.

However, if you have an older iPhone model or don't want to update to iOS 15.4 just yet, there is another way to mask unlock your iPhone using your Apple Watch. Launching Cnet, some of these ways you should try.

How to use Face ID with a mask

This new feature is exclusive to iOS 15.4 and only available on iPhone 12‌‌, 12 Mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max as well as iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max. After updating, you will see an option to use Face ID with a mask during the welcome screen. You can also do the following to enable new features.

1. On your iPhone, open the Settings app.2. Next, go to Face ID & Passcode and enter your passcode.3. Activate Face ID With Mask4. On the next page, select the Use Face ID With a Mask option. Finally, remove your mask, if you have one, and set up Face ID.

Despite scanning your entire face, the Use Face ID With a Mask feature emphasizes authenticating the unique features around your eyes. Once that's set up, you'll be able to unlock your iPhone while wearing the mask.

How to use Apple Watch to unlock iPhone

If you don't have iOS 15.4 or iPhone 12 or 13, you can still unlock your iPhone with a mask while using your Apple Watch. For this to work, you must be running iOS 14.5 or later and WatchOS 7.4 or later. To set features:

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.2. Select Face ID & Passcode and enter your passcode.3. Scroll down to Unlock with Apple Watch, find your Apple Watch and enable the feature.

Now when you put your face mask on, all you have to do is lift your phone like you normally would to unlock it with Face ID. You'll feel a haptic tap on your wrist, telling you that your watch was used to unlock your phone.
