Forgot To Put Your Phone? Google Find My Device Can Find Your Android Phone

JAKARTA - Telephones have become a part of everyday life so it is immediately traumatizing if you suddenly don't lose this object. Either you left it in the taxi or accidentally dropped it somewhere.

If you have an Android phone, you can use the Find My Device feature to locate your phone. Find My Device relies on two things being enabled namely the Find My Device feature itself and the Google Location service.

In addition, the phone must also be turned on and signed in to a Google account. The Find My Device feature comes as part of the standard OS on the Pixel and some other Android phones and is usually enabled by default.

If you want to use Find My Device from Google, you can check to see if it's part of your phone's Android version.

Go to Settings > Security and look for Find My Device. If the app is listed but turned off, tap it and use the switch to turn it on.

If you don't have the Google app but want to use it instead of the apps your manufacturer has installed or if you want to use an Android tablet instead of a computer to find your phone or watch, then you can go to the Play Store and install Google's Find My Device app as well.

Next, you can check to see if Location is enabled:

Go to your phone settings and find Location. It will say right under the header whether it is on or off. If it's off, tap Location and enable it. You can also check which apps have access to your location and which apps have been used recently. If you want to take this opportunity to fine-tune these settings, tap App location permissions to change the location permission settings.

Find your phone

Now you are ready. If you can't find your phone, just go to Google search page and type "Find My Device" you will get a list of devices that you have registered with Google, select the one you want to find. Select one.

You will be taken to the Find My Device page, which will give you the name of your phone, last seen and current battery charge. Google Maps will show you the last location of your phone.

Once you find your device, there are three options listed on the left side of the screen. You choose depending on whether you feel the device is in a safe place or not. You can:

Have the device play a sound for five minutes so you can find it. Lock your device and sign out of your Google account, so your data will be safe when you retrieve it. Remove device. This is for those times when you're pretty sure it's been stolen and can't be retrieved. You won't be able to find your device after that, but your content will no longer be on it.

Meanwhile, the phone will show a notification that it has been found.
