JAKARTA - Ir. Akhyar Nasution, M.Si is the acting officer (Plt) of the Mayor of Medan who replaced Dzumi Eldin as of October 17, 2019. Who is Akhyar Nasution?

Akhyar Nasution is the son of Anwar Nasution, a figure of a genuine PDIP cadre from Medan. Akhyar Nasution's movement with PDI Perjuangan has started since 1994. He grew up in the Tanjung Mulia Morning Tax area, the Medan Deli border with East Medan. After graduating from SMA Negeri 3 Medan, Akhyar managed to enter the Physics faculty at the University of North Sumatra through the Interests and Ability Acceptance (PMDK) pathway. Unfortunately, he had not yet completed a semester, but he chose to quit and work as a laboratory staff member at a cooking oil company.

He loved nuclear science. Therefore, he chose the Faculty of Physics as a bridge to his education. Unfortunately, there has never been anything about nuclear science studies at the faculty which discouraged her from continuing her studies.

But in 1988 he decided to go back to college. He majored in Civil Engineering, still on the same campus as when he first started, University of North Sumatra. Akhyar Nasution was born under the influence of Marhaenisme in his extended family environment. His father, Erwin Nasution, was a member of the PDI and was also a member of the Indonesian National Student Movement (GMNI) in the 1960s.

During his college days, Akhyar Nasution also served as Secretary of the USU Civil Engineering Commissariat for the Indonesian National Student Movement (GMNI).

Akhyar Nasution is a 2012 graduate of the PDIP Main Cadre Teacher School in Kulonprogo, Yogyakarta. Like blood that thickens, the blood of the Akhyar Nasution family dynasty is PDIP.

Akhyar Nasution became a novice voter by registering as a PDI cadre and being awarded a party membership card at that time. He succeeded in becoming a cadre and entered the management in 1994, and continued until he was elected as a member of the Medan DPRD 1999–2004.

After graduating from college, in 1995 he worked at a contractor company PT. Fajar Hamparan Mas, on Jalan Krakatau, Medan. After being elected as a member of the Medan City DPRD for the 1999-2004 period, Akhyar did not have much time to pursue his profession as an engineer. After the end of his term of membership in the DPRD, he returned to his previous life, a civil engineering engineer. Several towers in the city of Medan and areas in North Sumatra, became the work of Akhyar Nasution.

In 2008 he was called by Japorman Saragih to serve as Chairman of the Election Winning Board of the PDI-P PDI-P Election of North Sumatra. Since then he has returned to being active in the PDIP committee in North Sumatra.

"So I at the PDIP is already a main cadre teacher and has an active career in the management from the level of branches, sub-branches, to the DPD PDIP North Sumatra. I also inherited the PDIP blood from my grandfather and father. So I really understand what the party will create, namely prioritizing its cadres, ”he said hopefully.

According to him, what he gained through struggling from below with various training as a cadre, succeeded in placing Akhyar Nasution as the Main Cadre Teacher. Akhyar added that there were only 30 people who had certificates of status as Teachers of PDIP Main Cadres among hundreds of thousands of party cadres in North Sumatra.

His meeting with Dzulmi Eldin when he was a member of the DPRD took place in 2002. Dzumi at that time served as Head of the Medan City Revenue Service counterpat Commission C DPRD and the Budget Committee.

Shohibul Ansor, a political observer in North Sumatra, also described how Akhyar Nasution's activities as a cadre started himself from the grasroot circle. Akhar has a spirit of service to the community, with a balanced party performance.

Akhyar Nasution's devotion to the PDI Perjuangan was like a lifelong, which he himself could never have imagined ending tragically ahead of the simultaneous regional elections later in December 2020. However, after the appearance of Bobby Nasution who registered himself as a PDIP cadre on March 12, 2020, Akhyar's days were increasingly filled with speculation that he would no longer have the same opportunity to represent PDI-P as a candidate for mayor of Medan 2020–2024.

In December 2019, Japorman Saragih dared to explain how Akhyar Nasution who is a PDI-P cadre is a capable, hard worker, and understands the city of Medan. As if he wanted to maintain his neutrality, Japorman stated that Akhyar Nasution still had the same opportunity as Bobby Nasution. Even though Japorman knows, it all depends on the decision of Ketum's mother, Megawati.

The pragmatic side shown by the PDIP elite at the DPP level emphasizes that PDIP is not a cadre party, as it was in the past. The party, which carries Jokowi's name as a two-term president, prefers to maintain good relations with the political dynasty of the presidential family rather than seeing the rules of the game and the loyalty of senior cadres who start from the bottom. Through two party vehicles, namely Democrat and PKS, Akhyar Nasution and Salman will face off against Bobby and Aulia who are supported by PDIP, Gerindra, PAN and Golkar.

The merger of the coalition of the two parties succeeded in reaching the minimum threshold (threshold) of 20 percent for the scope of the Pilkada. Akhyar Nasution was paired with Salman Alfarisi who also served as a PKS functionary and was an active Deputy Chair of the Medan City DPRD.

Salman seemed to want to affirm Akhyar Nasution's heart that political dynamics often sacrifice valuable things but must adhere to the rules of the game; then Salman dared to say he would first resign as a member of the DPRD before being officially determined by the KPU of the city of Medan as a candidate for mayor of Medan along with Akhyar Nasution.

Akhyar tried to forget the accusation that he was reportedly on a rampage after not getting the blessing of the PDIP DPP and its general chairman and instead chose Bobby Nasution.

"In Medan, he entered as PDIP. Imagine, I have authorized the recommendation business, because I was elected by the party congress.
