SAMARINDA - The Palaran Police, East Kalimantan, plans to bring the Forensic Laboratory from the National Police Headquarters to the scene (TKP) of the burning gas station to determine the cause of the fire.

"So, we can't speculate yet. However, eyewitnesses said that initially the source of the fire was inside the pickup truck when it was filling up," said Palaran Police Chief AKP Roganda in Samarinda, as reported by Antara, Monday, March 21.

The fire that shocked residents on Monday, March 21 morning at a gas station on Jalan Raya Bantuas, Palaran District, is still under investigation by Inafis.

Roganda said that the victim of the pickup driver who was refueling pertalite fuel oil (BBM) suffered burns up to 40 percent as the fire from inside the car grabbed his body when the victim was right in front of the filling machine at the gas station.

"The victim was the pickup driver himself, not carrying friends or passengers," he said.

Fortunately, the Command Post VI Disdamkar Samarinda immediately rushed to the location of the fire which was on the side of the road axis to Sangasanga, Kutai Kartanegara, to extinguish the red rooster.

Meanwhile, Public Relations Disdamkar Kota Samarinda Herry Suhendra said that the fire that occurred at the gas station was successfully extinguished after his party lowered two fire truck tank units assisted by the Sangasanga Fire Department and Pertamina Unit.

"The information is that the fire occurred at 10:00 WITA and it could only be extinguished at around 11.00 WITA," said Herry.

Herry also admitted that his party had experienced a few problems when trying to extinguish the fire at the gas station.

"The distance from the location of the fire from Posko VI Palaran (nearest post) to the TKP is approximately 10 km," he explained.

According to him, not only the pickup, the fire also burned two motorbikes around the scene.
