Expanding Global Market, Cadillac Lyriq Will Greet South Korea Market

JAKARTA - GM Korea Co., as the distributor of General Motors vehicles for South Korea, will bring one of the GM products that has been sold previously for US Pasa, Cadillac Lyriq.

Cadillac Lyriq is Cadillac's first electric model powered by a battery belonging to GM, Ultium EV GM. Reportedly, this car will be one of 10 EV cars belonging to GM which will be marketed to South Korea for 2025.

Quoted from Yonhap, Thursday, June 8, GM Korea implemented a two-path strategy in selling its vehicles, namely selling vehicles produced domestically and imported abroad.

The lineup of models consists of locally assembled Chevrolet brands, namely Trailblazer, Trax, Bolt EV, Equinoc, Tense, and Tahoe brands. There is also a brand from GMC namely Sierra Denali.

Previously, cars such as Chevrolet Spark, Trax, andwascasm were also included in his ranks. However, production was discontinued last year.

Currently, some of the models sold in South Korea are Chevrolet brands. However, Cadillac products have been sold to the South Korean market, although those sold are gasoline-engined.

From January to May 2023, sales of GM Korea vehicles experienced a positive trend by rising 71 percent to 96,068 units to 164,475 units in the previous year.

Cadillac Lyriq is the first electric-powered SUV from the brand from the United States. Having an Ultium lithium-ion NCMA cell battery with a capacity of 102 kWh, Cadillac Lyriq has a battery-efficient consumption of 235 liters/km.

The luxury crossover also has a synchronous air conditioner magnet permanent electric motor that has up to 500 dk power. For now, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq model is sold starting at 58,590 US dollars or around Rp.872.3 million.
