JAKARTA - The automotive giant from Japan continues to accelerate the electrification transition in China, the evidence is that it officially operates a new factory in collaboration with the GAC Group.

Quoting from the CNevpost page, Tuesday, December 24, GAC Honda is a joint venture between this Japanese brand and the GAC Group. Now the factory located in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, is starting to operate.

Located in the Economic Development Zone, the factory is the second New Energy Vehicle factory for the Japanese brand, previously inaugurated the factory that collaborated with Dongfeng.

Back to GAC Honda, the new NEV factory that started operating has an annual capacity of 120,000 units, the same as the Dongfeng Honda factory.

The factory is equipped with advanced technology and steps that reduce carbon emissions. The stamping and welding process completely eliminates logistics personnel by automating spare parts logistics.

In addition, the welding examination is already AI-based and in the assembly process, about 30 percent of the total process is automated to achieve a very efficient production line.

To make the factory environmentally friendly, GAC Honda uses a solar power system that produces 22 megawatts, and is installed inside the factory complex. With this implementation, it is hoped that it will reduce annual CO2 by up to 13 thousand tons.

Not only that, GAC Honda also uses a low-VOC car that has just been deployed, which is done to reduce the environmental impact of the factory.

"Honda is accelerating efforts to electrify in China to achieve its carbon-neutral destination by 2050," said the Japanese automaker.
