Subaru Recalls More Than 2,500 Outback Units in Australia Due to This Production Error

JAKARTA - Subaru experienced unpleasant news in Australia. The Japanese brand had to recall more than 2,500 Outback models due to a production error.

As reported by Drive, Tuesday, November 21, a total of 2,610 2021-2022 Outback units will have to go through a recall period because the rear camera and reverse lights may stop functioning.

According to the Department of Infrastructure in Australia, the error started with the retard switch of the Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) system not being properly sealed, giving rise to the potential for moisture to enter causing corrosion on the circuit board.

Thus, this affects the reversing lights or rear camera which will malfunction, making it difficult for the driver to reverse the vehicle when parking or removing the vehicle.

“If reversing lights or rear view cameras are not functioning properly, this can impact the safety of traffic, or of people behind the vehicle thereby increasing the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants or other road users,” the Department wrote Infrastructure.

The manufacturer has appealed to owners of affected vehicles to carry out repairs at authorized Subaru services for free or to book online.

Outback is one of the SUV lines presented by Subaru. This car is equipped with a 2,500 cc Boxer Engine producing 185 hp of power and 245 Nm of torque. Another advantage is good vibration and sound control, providing comfort when driving.

This car is known for its safety features and has won the Top Safety Pick award for 15 consecutive years.

In the United States, the Subaru Outback has even sold more than 2.7 million units. In Indonesia, the Subaru Outback was introduced last August and is priced at IDR 779.5 million OTR Jakarta.
