Rivian Strengthens Electric Car Production Team With Recruit Carlo Materazzo As VP Logistics

JAKARTA - Rivian Automotive has shown its serious commitment to developing electric cars by attracting Carlo Materazzo as its newest Vice President of Logistics. This step was taken to help increase the production of electric vehicles from American companies.

Reporting from the Electreck page, Tuesday, November 14, Carlo Materazzo is not a new figure in the automotive industry. Previously, he had experience working with Stellantis and Fiat. Other experiences include his role as manager at a joint venture between FCA and Peugeot-Citroen in 2009.

Frank Klein, Rivian's Chief Operations Officer, stated that the Materazzo experience in automotive manufacturing is invaluable and will play an important role in Rivian's operational improvement.

"Carlo will play an important role in efforts to improve sustainably at our plant in Illinois and also when we set up a new facility in Georgia," he added.

Carlo Materazzo's recruitment was carried out less than two weeks after Rivian announced the recruitment of Arnhelm Mittelbach, a former Mercedes-Benz executive, as Georgia's first factory manager.

Meanwhile, the former Stellantis executive expressed his enthusiasm and could not wait to make a further contribution to Rivian in the future.

Last week, Rivian also completed an agreement to build a new 1,800-hectare plant in Georgia, which will be used for the production of next-generation electric vehicles. Factory construction is scheduled to begin after all requirements are met.

Rivian plans to hold a groundbreaking ceremony in early 2024, with the factory project expected to be able to create 7,500 jobs to produce smaller and more affordable R2 electric vehicles.
