Isuzu Confirms Europe Is The First Market For Its New Electric Pickup

JAKARTA- Isuzu doesn't seem to want to be left behind with other manufacturers about the transition of electric cars by launching an electric pickup which is predicted to be present in 2025.

This news was revealed directly by Shinsuke Minami, President and COO Isuzu, during the launch of the D-Max facelift in Bangkok, Thailand. He said Isuzu was actively making efforts to realize carbon neutralness.

"In the future, Isuzu plans to produce the IDX (Battery Electric Vehicle) pickup in Thailand," he said, quoted from the Carscoops page, Tuesday, October 10.

Not Asia, Shinsuke said that the first electric pickup would be marketed for the European market, but he did not describe in more detail which country to go to, but it is widely reported that Norway is the biggest opportunity.

"After Europe, we then reviewed the gradual launch by meeting the needs of each market, including Thailand," he added.

Although there is no deeper information about what electric pickup will be presented, Isuzu D-Max is the biggest opportunity. Not without reason, considering that this pickup accounts for 40% of Isuzu sales on a global scale.

As is known, Isuzu has presented a full electric version of the LCV NRR series earlier this year, and its launch in 2024 with a 20 kWh battery assembled. It is possible that a similar series will be implemented in an electric pickup, it just requires a series of changes and a few modifications.

Later the electric pickup from Isuzu will compete with several well-known brands, such as the Ford Ranger to the Toyota Hilux which have embedded a hybrid system, and will develop an electric version in the future.
