JAKARTA - Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023, the largest automotive event in Southeast Asia, has been successfully held. This event presents various new models with the latest technology.

Even though GIIAS this year has ended, the organizers, Gaikindo, have announced a date for next year's edition.

Unlike this year which will be held in August, GIIAS 2024 will be held on July 18-28 at ICE BSD, Tangerang. This means that GIIAS will start earlier than before.

The General Chairperson of Gaikindo, Yohannes Nangoi, explained that there were several considerations that made GIIAS held earlier. This is a step taken to support the development of the automotive industry.

"In 2024, the schedule is tight, including the commercial side, so we need to consider additional exhibitions and elections. All of this is well considered," Nangoi said in an interview with the media on Saturday, August 19.

Apart from GIIAS, in the even year, Gaikindo also held another event, namely the Gaikindo Indonesia International Commercial Vehicle Expo (GIICOMVEC), which will be held on March 7-10, 2024. This exhibition focuses on commercial vehicles and is held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta.

Gaikindo recorded several positive results compared to previous editions, including an increase in the number of visitors from last year, with a peak of visitors on August 17.

The number of visitors increased quite well, around 20 percent more than last year. The peak was on August 17, "said Nangoi.

However, Gaikindo has not provided an official figure regarding the number of Vehicle Ordering Letters (SPK) during the event. However, Nangoi confirmed that the number had increased.

"In my opinion, the SPK and transaction value will be higher this year," he said.

Since it was first held in 1986, GIIAS 2023 has been an automotive event that presents more vehicle brands than in previous years. This year, this event succeeded in presenting 49 vehicle brands.
