JAKARTA - Tesla withdrew the circulation of its Semi truck due to malfunctions in the system. This withdrawal adds one more electric car manufacturer model to the list of withdrawals after more than 3 thousand Tesla Model Y which was announced earlier this week.

Quoting Antara, the Tesla Semi truck was withdrawn from circulation due to a brake failure problem that could potentially cause accidents and threaten the safety of drivers and passengers.

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported this was Semi's first recall since it was first delivered in December. According to NHTSA, the parking brake valve module could cause Semi to roll over.

"Unactive parking brakes as expected when the driver removes the brakes can make the vehicle roll over, increasing the risk of accidents," NHTSA said as reported by Gizmondo recently.

The Commercial Vehicle System Bendix identified the issue in early February and Tesla spent the following month investigating the matter and determining how many vehicles were affected. On the date of recall issued on March 24, no accidents or brake-related damage were reported.

The withdrawal affected about 35 trucks and Tesla will notify its owners by mail no later than May 23, 2023, adding that they will pay for the replacement of the parking valve module.

This is not the first recall and setback that Elon Musk's company has experienced so far with 3.4 million Tesla vehicles reportedly recalled since 2018. Earlier this week, the US Department of Transportation opened an investigation into a possible seat belt malfunction after two Tesla owners filed a complaint.

Tesla then recalled 3,470 Model Y cars in 2022-2023 after reporting that the seat docking frame may not have been properly installed. Late last year, Tesla recalled 40,000 Model S and other Model X vehicles due to software defects.

Also 356,309 Model 3 sedans were recalled last December due to a possible malicious rear view camera malfunction and an additional 119,009 Model S vehicles were recalled due to a misaligned front trunk hook.
