Admits He Is A Soldier Because He Is Silent, Halsey Now Calls For Palestine's Liberation

JAKARTA - Halsey made a statement to address his silence towards the Israel-Hamas war. He labeled himself a "cuter".

The singer previously expressed his support for Palestine during the 2021 crisis. A series of attacks that began after Israeli police blocked the Damascus Gate (where Palestinian Arabs usually gather during Ramadan) resulted in the deaths of 83 people in Gaza including 17 children and seven in Israel.

However, fans noticed that Halsey was very quiet during the current crisis development. At the time of writing, the latest death toll reached 11,423 Palestinians and at least 1,200 people died in Israel (according to Al Jazeera).

A user X/Twitter commented on Halsey's silence: "They always speak up about Palestine, is this a strange time to stay silent?"

On Tuesday Halsey posted on his Instagram Stories to explain his silence. "Some people argue that it was a coward act," he wrote. "And to be honest, it's true."

He then explained, on his final tour, he had received violent events and threats that resulted in his house being banged on many times and required the presence of snipers in the sky during most of the show that summer.

As a result, Halsey made the decision to protect his family from people who plan to commit violence against him due to dissent over the crisis in Gaza.

Even so, Halsey said he did not feel right that the decision he made for his family actually prevented him from voicing support for families experiencing much worse violence.

"I have no meaningful statement or reason that can justify my silence for weeks," he added.

And I really hate the culture of diverting the responsibility to save face in front of an audience demanding comment. So I came here to call for what happened, admit my regret, and reaffirm my stance on the release of the Palestinian people," he concluded.
