Coldplay Concert Uses Kinetic Floors That Can Generate Electricity

Ahead of Coldplay's concert in Jakarta on November 15, the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) brought in a new grass cover in the form of a kinetic floor.

Bangun Didik as Head of the SUGBK Unit said the kinetic floor was recently purchased directly from England.

"There is a new grass cover, GBK bought it directly from the UK," said Bangun Didik to the media crew in SUGBK, Monday, October 30.

"From our side we bought the grass cover directly according to their request," he continued.

Coldplay asked for the use of the kinetic floor as one of the riders on the Music of The Spheres concert tour. It's a form of their commitment to reduce carbon footprint as much as possible.

The kinetic floor will produce electricity when the audience moves or jumps along with the rhythm of the music being played.

The Music of The Spheres World Tour series itself aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 50 percent compared to Coldplay's last tour.

Meanwhile, SUGBK said that similar kinetic floors were also used by several large stadiums in the UK.

This is also used at Wembley Stadium and at the Tottenham Hotspurs stadium. This has been used and has been tested. Yesterday we also used it at the Archery Field for carnivals," concluded Bangun Didik.
