Ozzy Osbourne And Rick Astley's Story That Many People May Not Know

JAKARTA - Rick Astley claims Ozzy Osbourne has tried to recruit a supporting band for him.

The pop star in the 80s told Classic Rock magazine he had spoken with former Black Sabbath vocalist Ozzy Osbourne when he was at the height of his success.

At that time, Prince Of Darkness made an impromptu offer.

"He said, 'Are you here to hold a concert?', and I said, 'No, we're just doing promos,'" recalls Astley.

And then said, 'If you want to form a band, tell me. I've worked with all the great players.' And I know he's done it he's worked with some of the best guitar players in the world.

At that time, Osbourne's wife, Sharon, was sitting nearby and according to Astley, she immediately intervened.

'Sharon bends over and says, 'Will you shut up, he (Astley) doesn't want to play with the long-haired and tattooed monster',' Astley said.

"I was amazed. The fact that he recognized me was because of one thing, but also because he thought he could form a band that fit me and sing Never Gonna Give You Up. He's really a good guy."

In recent years, Astley has developed the habit of submerging itself into rock and indie culture. She forged an unexpected friendship with Dave Grohl, and has appeared on stage with Foo Fighters several times, including at Japan's Summer Sonic festival in 2017 and at the Club NME event at the London Moth Club in 2019.

Recently, Astley made headlines while performing withwasoms, playing the entire Smiths cover set. The first time they did this was at the London Forum O2 Kentish Town in 2021. At that time he played Panic and This Charming Man, before performing full in London and Manchester, and reunited in Glastonbury this year for a'secret' show.
