JAKARTA - The appearance of Princess Ariani who performed the U2 song I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For on the 2023 Live Show Semifinal America's Got Talent (AGT) managed to amaze the judges.
Simon Cowell, the judge who gave Putri a golden buzzer ticket, said Putri's performance on stage was amazing.
"First of all, what a beautiful voice you've got," said Simon Cowell commenting on Putri's beautiful appearance, seen from the video on the America's Got Talent YouTube channel.
The way Putri Ariani, who performed the U2 song with a different arrangement, also received praise.
"What a beaconful version," said Simon Cowell.
Then, Simon revealed the story behind the selection of the song performed by Putri. He said the Irish band had given permission directly to Putri to perform the song I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.
"I understand that many bands do not give permission for the song, but they (U2) allow this song to be sung by Putri. Because they saw the audition," said Simon Cowell.
"I also want to thank U2," he concluded.
Meanwhile, Princess Ariani performed the U2 song alone. He started the song without music, and then entered the piano accompaniment which he played himself.
Princess Ariani's appearance in the 2023 AGT Semifinals received a standing opportunity for the four judges who were present.
