JAKARTA - In an interview with Classic Rock magazine, Joe Perry spoke about the possibility of a new song from Aerosmith.

The legendary rock unit from Boston has never released a new studio album since Music From Another Dimension (2012).

The album was released during the label Aerosmith, Columbia Records, reportedly underwent a change of leadership, and eventually became a commercial disappointment.

Asked if he had plans to record a follow-up to his 2018 solo album Sweetzerland Manifesto, this is Perry said.

"Right now it's not right. I don't see the time for it. I'm going to put everything I have into recording another album of Aerosmith, if that goes into the plan."

Stressing about the possibility of Aerosmith's new album, the 72-year-old guitarist said: "I don't know. At this point, I want to tour as much as possible. I want to go out and play for the fans."

"That's our focus right now, to get out and play live. If we had time to do some new music, it would be cool, but knowing Steven's (Tyler, vocalist) condition and our age and what it takes to record an album... I don't know. I always play, I always write something, but at this stage, I can't say it. I just want to go on the next tour and play live and give something back to the fans."

Tyler has been battling drug and alcohol addiction since the mid-1980s. Over the past four decades, he has recurred several times, including in the early 2000s and 2009s.

In May 2022, Tyler returned to undergoing treatment after relapses so Aerosmith temporarily suspended their tour.

Aerosmith himself will release a new compilation album titled Greatest Hits on August 18 in various configurations, including merchandise fan packs, new clothes, and collections of accessories.
