JAKARTA - Along with Toyota's global strategy, PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), as Toyota's Brand Holder Agent (APM) in Indonesia, continues to strengthen the presence of electric cars in the Indonesian market.

In addition to introducing several electric models such as the Alphard Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), Prius HEV, and bZ4x, Toyota also launched the All New RAV4 GR Sport Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) for the Indonesian market.

The RAV4 GR Sport PHEV is one of the steps in the multi-path strategy adopted by Toyota to achieve carbon-neutral targets in the future.

Anton Jimmi Suwandi, Marketing Director of PT TAM, revealed that currently RAV4 will be available in limited quantities. Even so, he did not rule out increasing the supply of the SUV in the future.

"Over the past year, we have only received about 10 units. However, we will consider the availability based on the response at GIIAS this year," Anton said while speaking with the media at ICE BSD, Saturday, August 19.

Anton also mentioned that during the GIIAS 2023 exhibition, there were three people who had placed orders for the SUV. However, this number does not include bookings outside GIIAS, so the waiting time for this car cannot be ascertained.

"I estimate that the stock of RAV4 will expire in one month. Later, we will discuss the allocation for next year. We will start shipping starting Q4, and we hope the waiting time will not last too long. We will anticipate based on the response at this exhibition," added Anton.

RAV4 GR Sport PHEV, introduced a few months ago, was sold by PT TAM for IDR 1.1 billion, and it has become a serious competitor in the Plug-in Hybrid market in Indonesia, competing with Volvo XC90 Recharge PHEV.

This car is equipped with a 2.5 liter gasoline engine combined with an i-AWD system and an electric motor, resulting in total power of up to 302 dk. The PHEV RAV4 GR Sport Toyota can also cover a distance of up to 60 km using only a battery.

Toyota is also focusing on developing emission-free vehicles. Until 2026, Toyota plans to market the latest 10 electric vehicle models with a target of selling 1.5 million zero-emission cars.
