After The US And Canada, BrightDrop Zevo Electric Van Will Enter Mexico Market

JAKARTA - In an ongoing effort to develop electric car technology and goods delivery solutions, General Motors (GM) began mass production of the line of electric van products BrightDrop Zevo 600 and the Zebo 400 models 2023 and 2024 last December.

BrightDrop has also formed strategic partnerships with major companies in the shipping and utility sectors, including names such as Walmart, FedEx, and Verizon.

The Zevo 600 and 400 electric vans are supported by the Ultium GM Battery Platform produced at the CAMI Assembly large-scale automaker in Canada, which has been converted to produce electric-based logistics vehicles. BrightDrop plans to produce around 50,000 units of electric vehicles per year at this facility starting in 2025.

Previously, for the 2023 model, the company had obtained more than 25,000 production orders for its two vehicles, specifically for the year-old Zevo 600 models, which were sold out.

However, the production process for this electric van for the 2024 model did not run smoothly due to delays due to a shortage of battery supply, InsideEVs reported, August 4. The latest news is that the production process has been continued and the BrightDrop electric van will soon enter the Mexican market, the third market after success in the US and Canada starting later this year, as reported by Autonews, August 8.

Zevo 600 and 400 are all-electric light commercial cargo vans made specifically for long-distance delivery of goods and services. Both are equipped with a 165 kWh battery pack, offering a range of more than 400 km in single charge including equipped with fast charging.

Unlike the Zevo 600 which has a larger dimension and a wide cargo space with a capacity of about 1.5 tonnes, the Zevo 400 has a more compact size with a cargo capacity of about 1.1 tonnes, making it ideal for lighter delivery tasks or a narrower environment.

Both, both the Zevo 600 and the Zevo 400 model 2024, are available in the all-wheel drive variant (AWD) and front wheel drive (FWD), and equipped with 300 dk engine power for the Zevo 600 and 260 dk for the Zevo 400, with the second highest speed reaching 144 km/hour.

The selling price of BrightDrop Zevo 600 is offered starting at 62,595 US dollars or around Rp953 million, while Zevo 400 has prices starting at 52,595 US dollars or around Rp800 million.
