Hanung Bramantyo's Challenges Working On The Boy's Note Film

Director Hanung Bramantyo revealed some difficulties in working on the film Catatan Si Boy which is a reboot of the film with the same title that was popular in 1987. Hanung said one of the difficulties he faced was when he had to describe Jakarta in the film even though he was not a Jakarta person.

"This makes it difficult for me because I am not from Jakarta, I am from Yogyakarta," said Hanung, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, June 24.

Meanwhile, the depiction of Jakarta in the film Note Si Boy is important because he doesn't want to get rid of the impression of the original film. Moreover, the notes of the Boy at that time talked about young people in Jakarta so they couldn't eliminate the image of the capital city.

"I rebooted, meaning to recreate, but, without leaving any initial impression. Same wine, different bottle," said Hanung.

In addition, another difficulty Hanung faced was when he had to describe the life of the main character as old money, aka old rich people.

The reason, said Hanung, is that he is not from a wealthy family, so he needs to do more research for this matter.

"Economically, I am also not a Boy's family, who from birth the car has been flashy in his garage. That's what makes me have to think about what kind of rich people are," said Hanung.

Hanung describes the rich not only about money. "The rich people with the rich, that's the difference, it's only in the vibe. Maybe the money can be the same, but, one is not surprised to have a lot of money, while one is shocked and he will show off. For Boy, not like that, real rich people don't show off," Hanung continued.

Si Boy's notes are scheduled to air on August 17, 2023, telling the life of a young Jakartan named Boy with all the challenges he faces ranging from romance, friendship, family, and dreams.
