Awesome, Avatar: The Way Of Water Wins Best Visual Effects For Oscar 2023

YOGYAKARTA – A science fiction genre film directed by James Cameron won the Best Visual Effect trophy at the 95th Academy Awards. Avatar: The Way of Water, received four nominations for Oscar 2023. Among them are Best Sound, Best Production Design, Best Picture, as well as Best Visual Effects.

A decade after the release of the first film, this first of four planned sequels follow the new family of Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña). Tragedy, battle, and the struggle to stay alive are beautifully packaged in this CGI-touched film that was released in 2022 yesterday. A number of film critics rallied, considering the plot of Avatar: The Way of Water too simple.

The visual effects are impeccable, like the previous sequel which was considered amazing. After developing new technologies for filming underwater scenes, efforts were made to make Avatar: The Way of Water comfortable to watch on a screen. Blurring the lines between what is real and CGI, this film manages to accomplish such an arduous task that it makes you forget that you are looking at computer-generated images.

Directed by James Cameron, Avatar: The Way of Water stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Giovanni Ribisi, Dileep Rao, and Matt Gerald. Each of the cast reprised their roles from the previous sequels. Sigourney Weaver returns as a new character. New cast members include Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, and Brendan Cowell.

As quoted from MovieWeb, Monday, March 13, Avatar: The Way of Water is the highest-grossing film of 2022 and the third-highest-grossing film of all time. A further three sequels have been given release dates, with several follow-ups scheduled for release on December 20, 2024, December 18, 2026, and December 22, 2028, respectively.
