JAKARTA - The latest generation of the Honda Civic Type R will become a pace car or safety car that will guide the way for the Indycar race. This car with the FL5 body code is known to have high performance for racing circuits.

Reporting from Motorsport.com, Thursday, March 2 2023, the Civic Type R will become a safety car during the popular racing event in North America for the 2023 season.

To support its performance, Honda has just made modifications to the Civic Type R. One of them is the latest braking system.

The braking comes from Honda's US-headquartered motorsport division, HPD, which consists of a stainless-steel disc brake disc and brake callipers. The function of the new braking system is to maintain speed during the caution or safety car period.

For other parts, not given a significant change. The car is painted red and white. Then, the car is installed with additional cars to provide clear visibility, especially when the race is in the rain.

The Honda Civic Type R itself has been produced in 2022. This car has specifications in the form of a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-line engine that can produce 6,500 RPM and 400 Nm of torque. For its own power, this car can generate a power of 316 hp.

This car is not as fast as the previous Pace Car, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 with a power of 490 hp. However, the Civic Type R will not fail to carry out its duties as a racing guide.
