JAKARTA - The indie unit from Jakarta, the greenhouse effect (ERK), will soon release their fourth album on January 27, 2023, still carrying the spirit of criticism, violence, and anxiety.

"Reza and I represent two other personnel who are currently in America, expressing our gratitude for the support of everyone on this album. We feel a little excited at the same time because we can finally release a full new album," said drummer Akbar Bagus Sudibyo as quoted by Antara, Tuesday.

ERK has not released a full album since Sinestesia greeted Penerka (Erk fans) at the end of 2015. The group now manned by Cholil Mahmud (vocals/guitar), Poppie Airil (vocals/bass), Akbar Bagus Sudibyo (drums) and Reza Ryan (guitar) had released a mini album on Jalan Six Tiga in 2020.

Since then, slowly this quartet has collected song material, arranged, dismantled, and completed the recording process of ten songs on the Rimpang album.

It's not an ERK if you don't spread unique dictions such as an expression or clandenstin in the runs of their songs in Rimpang. Even so, this album, which is thick with social criticism, can still be enjoyed and sounds sweet, such as through the lyrics 'people will surround you, the hope of humor is always my hope' from the song Perlapan Terlelap.

Listen also to us, those of Purbayang tend to be easy-listering but come with thick guitar riffs and easy to remember. ERK closes their exploration of time exploration very precisely through Manifesto with ambience notes that have the potential to anesthetize the audience. There are a total of ten songs in the Rimpang album under Idiiw Records.

Rhyzome itself is one of the song titles on this album which is considered the most appropriate to represent the ERK message. Inspired by the theory of rhizome by Deleuze and Guattari, Rimpang is an illustration of how hopefully, both small and large, emerge randomly, nonlinear, without hierarchy, and in various situations, and spread secretly.

ERK is also not alone in absorbing Rimpang. This time they took a number of artists such as Suraa in the Fun Kaya Fun number, as well as hip-hop Morgue Vanguard in the song Bersemi Setebun.
