JAKARTA - Spotify on Thursday announced that Tulus won the top spot for the list category of artists, albums and songs most played on the audio platform in Indonesia this year.
"We are very happy to see that Indonesian artists continue to shine on the local stage as seen in the Spotify Wrapped data in 2022," said Head of Music Spotify Asia Kossy Ng through a press statement received in Jakarta, Thursday.
According to him, this shows that the Indonesian people continue to listen and support local talents, with more than 50 percent of artists and songs on Indonesia's top list coming from Indonesian musicians.
"This is also a motivation for us to work further in supporting Indonesian musicians and pave the way for more local talents to develop on our platform," added Kossy.
Spotify Wrapped 2022 data shows Tulus even outperforms global artists such as BTS, Justin Bieber, and Taylor Swift. According to Spotify, this is the first time in seven years, an Indonesian singer has managed to outperform international artists as the most listened to artists on the audio streaming platform.
The song Tulus CARE on the Road also occupies the top position. For information, this song also broke the record on Spotify earlier this year as the longest local song to rank first on the weekly charts of Top 50 Indonesia.
In addition, Tulus' comeback album, entitled Human, also occupies the top position as the album that is listened to the most in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, when viewed globally, Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, and Drake topped the list of Wrapped which included the most listened to albums, songs, and artists.
Rapper from Puerto Rico, Bad Bunny, ranks number one for the artists who have been listened to the most globally for three consecutive years, with more than 18.5 billion streams this year.
