The oldest stone that reads "Ten Orders of Allah" was sold at a price of more than 5 million US dollars (equivalent to Rp. 81 billion) in the auction.

Reported by ABC News, Thursday, December 19, Sotheby's said the 52 kilograms of marble was obtained by an anonymous buyer planning to donate it to Israeli bodies.

New York-based auction house said the final price exceeded the pre-sales forecast of 1 million-2 million US dollars and followed the intensive offers' for more than 10 minutes in a global auction.

The stone is claimed to date from 300 to 800 AD and reads the commands in the Paleo-Ibrani script, according to Sotheby's.

This stone was discovered during a railroad excavation along Israel's southern coast in 1913. At first the stone that reads 10 orders of Allah was not considered historically important.

Sotheby's said the findings were originally used as paving stones in a local house until finally in 1943 the stone was sold to a scholar who understood its meaning.

This 'real relationship with ancient beliefs that have shaped global religious and cultural traditions, is a testament to a rare history,' said the auctioneer.

The text, which is written on the slab, follows the Bible verses that are common in Christian and Jewish traditions, but ignores the third order that prohibits naming God carelessly.

This includes a new direction for worshiping on Mount Gerizim, a holy site specifically for Samariaans, Sotheby's said.
