JAKARTA - Former porn star Mia Khalifa supports major changes made by Pornhub following allegations of rape videos of children on the site.

Pornhub is one of the most visited websites in the world. There are an estimated 3.5 billion visits per month, more than Netflix or Amazon.

Recently, the New York Times documented a story about a number of young women who claimed videos of themselves being minors were posted on the pornographic site.

Allegedly, thousands of clips showing rape or sexual abuse of minors can be seen on the adult video site.

Pornhub's parent company MindGeek has denied claims by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nicholas Kristof that he found numerous videos featuring child sexual abuse and rape.

Later, however, Pornhub released a statement documenting major changes to the way content was uploaded.

And one of the supporters of that change is Mia Khalifa, who was once the site's most viewed adult artist.

Khalifa shared a Kristof column on his Instagram account, sharing a tweet from the journalist that read: "Pornhub has just announced major changes: a.) Allow uploads only from verified users; b.) No downloads; c.) Moderate fix.

"Initial take: Much of it depends on how responsibly Pornhub is implementing this, and that simply doesn't earn my trust, but it looks significant."

The X-rated video site said in a statement: “Today, we are taking big steps to better protect our community. Going forward, we will only allow properly identified users to upload content.

“Effective immediately, only content partners and people in the Model Program can upload content to Pornhub.

"In the new year, we will implement a verification process so that each user can upload content after successfully completing the identification protocol."
