Synopsis Of Jailangkung: Sandekala, A Tragic Story Of A Family Trapped In The Forest

JAKARTA - The film Jailangkung: Sandekala, directed by Kimo Stamboel and will be released in theaters starting September 22, 2022. The two-minute trailer shows Adrian's family with their wife and two children stopping in a forest.

When away from his parents, Kinan disappeared around the lake. His family is trapped in a village filled with suspicious people until Niki finally finds a jailangkung doll.

The film stars Dwi Sasono, Titi Kamal, Syifa Hadju, Muzakki Ramdhan and Giulio Parengkuan. Director Kimo Stamboel said this horror film was based on a legendary mystical game.

Kimo said the game and the story of jailangkung are very familiar to the people of Indonesia. To bring a new atmosphere, the director of "Ivanna" combines it with Sandekala or the myth of the subtle creatures that come out at the turn of the evening and night.

"Because almost every Indonesian has heard that every time you want sunset, you don't go out, you have to go inside. This is something we are exploring and we can combine with jailangkung," Kimo said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 16.

Jailangkung: Sandekala is a reboot of the film Jailangkung 1 & 2, but is handled with a different story approach than before. This time Kimo will tell about a family who had bad luck and how they solved the problem.

"I really like the tragic story theme that can befall a family and their fighting spirit in solving problems," said Kimo.

Jailangkung producer: Sandekala Wicky V. Olindo said jailangkung is a strong intellectual property (IP). According to him, it is very interesting to retell the story of Jalangkung with a different theme from the previous films.

"It's very interesting to work on this film. For this reboot, we decided to entrust Kimo Stamboel for directing and storytelling," said Wicky.
