Bob Tutupoly's Son Apologizes If His Father's Actions Hurt People's Hearts

JAKARTA - The daughter of legendary singer Bobby Williem Tutupoly, Sasha Karina Tutupoly, remembers her father as a father who was firm and even rude when he spoke. Even so, Sasha is sure that Bob Tutupoly is really soft-hearted.

"He spoke harshly but his heart was very soft," said Bob Tutupoly's only daughter, while shedding tears when met at the Siloam Semanggi Hospital funeral home, South Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to Sasha, although his father, who is popularly known as Bob Tutupoly, has a firm attitude in educating his children, he always teaches to help others and he hopes to carry out his late father's mandate.

"I hope to keep his good name and can continue his wish or carry out his wish to be a good person and help others", said Sasha.

Sasha said that she had lost her father figure, she represented the family to thank her for honoring her father.

"I apologize if all this time there have been actions or behaviors that his father did, intentionally or unintentionally, that hurt people's hearts."

The "Why No Sorry" singer is said to have had complications and strokes. He has been undergoing treatment since December last year. Sasha said her father was in the ICU for one month due to complications of the disease.

"Since December last year, he has been going back and forth from the hospital but finally at the end of May he was admitted to Mayapada Hospital until finally he was in the ICU for one month, he entered the ICU on June 9, and today at 00:03 Papa was declared absent." he said.

The condition of the singer of the song "Widuri" has actually improved, even Sasha and his family wanted to take him home and it was decided to be treated at home.

"The family has prepared home care, but at night the condition was critical so it couldn't be helped anymore," he said.

Bob Tutupoly leaves one child and two grandchildren. Bob Tutupoly funeral plans will be held on Thursday at the Tanah Kusir public cemetery, South Jakarta.

A number of relatives and friends were present at the funeral home, including senior actress Rina Hasyim.

Bob Tutupoly, who is familiarly called Uncle Bob, has died at the age of 82 years. He was born in Surabaya, East Java on November 13, 1939.

Om Bob is an Indonesian singer, presenter, and actor. Bob Tutupoly has starred in several films such as "The Love Story of the Pedicab Driver" (1958), "Curious" (1977), and "One Eye" (2008).

Bob Tutupoly is also famous when he hosted the program "Tembang Memories" on the Indosiar television station, thanks to which he successfully received a Legend Award at the 2015 Indonesian Music Award.
