JAKARTA - The Dare To Be The Next Superstar (DTBTNS) season 2 talent search event will be rolling again in 2022. A number of well-known musicians and visual artists will be the judges for the event organized by Supermusic, from The Sigit Rekti Yoewono vocalist to Oom Leo Berkaraoke.

Supermusic representative, Nathaniel W Utomo said that DTBTNS Season 2 was held as an answer to the high enthusiasm of participants in the same event last year, which was almost a thousand submissions. Not just a talent search, according to Nathan, DTBTNS Season 2 is designed to be a forum for aspirations, a means of communication and expression for young artists, especially in the field of music & visual art.

“Dare To Be The Next Superstar is Supermusic's 'radar' to promote young talents in Indonesian music and visual art, most of whom have not been exposed and find their market. This is also a form of Supermusic's support and breakthrough for Indonesia's creative young generation so that they can continue to work and prove that the pandemic is not an obstacle," Nathan said in a release received by VOI, Wednesday, February 2.

According to Nathan, DTBTNS Season 2 will roll out in two categories, namely the music category and the visual art category. Supermusic places competent and popular figures in their respective fields. Unmitigated, in this second season, Supermusic provides a total prize of up to Rp. 450 million.

The lineup for the jury in the music category was filled with musician and vocalist Rekti Yoewono, music director Ronald Steven, and music and business activist Nadia Yustina. Meanwhile, the art category is filled with top visual artists and illustrators, namely Oom Leo, Popo Mangun, Hana Madness, Bunga Fatia, and Streoflow.

“In this second season, there is an innovation from the line up of the judges, namely in the visual art category we add slots to 5 judges. The five judges in the visual art category came from different art disciplines. This is based on the rapid and dynamic development of visual arts, so we hope that the perspective of the jury's assessment can be wider. While in the music category, the jury panel is filled with figures who represent the competencies of musicians, music arrangers, and industry practitioners,” explained Nathan.

The frontman of the band The Sigit Rekti Yoewono, who was again appointed as a judge for the music category, assessed that Dare To Be The Next Superstar (DTBTNS) Season 2 would be more interesting and important for young musicians to follow. According to this man with long hair, DTBTNS Season 2 can be a bridge for hidden talents to showcase their works and be known to the wider public.

"In this digital era, it is easy for everyone to create and display their work. That way, a curation forum is also needed to attract interesting and quality talents. At DTBTNS last year I was met with young talents who are reliable. And it is also proven that Last year's participants also started active careers and began to get attention from music enthusiasts according to their respective target markets," said Rekti.

After the registration process alias submission from January 17 to February 28 2022, the DTBTNS Season 2 series continues to the judging stage (curation, coaching, final), then ends with the exploration of winners. In the judging process, the judges in each category will choose the best work from the participants who are declared worthy to be the winner. Each jury has its own assessment criteria, as does Rekti and Oom Leo.

"For me personally, a song that is pleasing to the ear has become a must. But there are other important elements, namely uniqueness and distinctiveness, both from the work and how to present the work itself," said Rekti.

"Actually, there are no specific criteria for works. But at least they must know about good and wise methods of creating works, and can answer all things related to 5W + 1H," Oom Leo said.
