President Prabowo Wants Every Village To Have A Food Barn To Pursue Self-Sufficiency

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that each village has its own food barn in order to realize food self-sufficiency as the key to the sustainability of inflation control.

In his remarks at the 2024 Inflation Control Coordination Meeting, at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Jakarta, Monday, December 9, President Prabowo emphasized that the main key to controlling inflation in the future is food self-sufficiency, both at the national and regional levels.

"We have always been taught that every village must have a food barn. Every village. So, this is our big strategy," said President Prabowo as shown through the Presidential Secretariat YouTube account which was witnessed in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 10.

The President encourages the creation of food self-sufficiency to the district and sub-district levels, in accordance with the local wisdom of the nation.

The Head of State also appreciated the steps taken by several regions, such as the Province of South Sumatra which has carried out a simultaneous planting movement.

According to the President, this step is in line with the government's big strategy in increasing national food security.

The President also praised the achievement of national inflation which was successfully suppressed below 3 percent even in the midst of global uncertainty. This, according to him, is an achievement that should be grateful for.

"But overall, our inflation, which is in its current condition, I think is quite grateful for us, below 3 percent of inflation, I think it is something that has achievements," said the President.

On that occasion, the President asked the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian to continue the existing inflation control mechanism, considering that the current national inflation rate is still below 3 percent.

According to the President, Indonesia's inflation control mechanism will be a case study that will be studied by other countries.

"I think one day it will be a case study, many countries will learn from us," Prabowo said.
