The Capital Archipelago Authority (OIKN) will launch a Nusantara Regionally and Locally Determined Contribution (RLDC) document at an international event, namely the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2023 or COP28 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, next week.
"OIKN will launch a document known as Nusantara Net Zero Strategies 2045 or officially named Nusantara Regionally and Locally Determined Contribution (RLDC). We did determine that the Nusantara RLDC document was launched at the COP28 event, to deal with matters related to climate change," said OIKN Head Bambang Susantono in an online seminar in Jakarta, Friday, November 24.
Bambang said, COP28 is a good event for Indonesia, so that IKN Nusantara can get exposure at the international level, and is also open to several collaborations with various other institutions.
He added that this RLDC is the first document for Indonesia, in which the State Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago is the first city in Indonesia to have RLDC documents.
"I think this is a fairly historic achievement not only for IKN Nusantara, but also for Indonesia that how later we will also overcome problems that may arise together in terms of climate change," said Bambang.
Nusantara RLDC is also a document that can continue to be updated according to the development of technology and a new approach in the world. RLDC is a version of a National Determined Contribution at the local level which contains roadmaps for IKN Nusantara which will later achieve several targets related to climate change.
In the field of climate change, OIKN itself sets several targets to be achieved. First, OIKN wants Nusantara to become a city with zero carbon emissions or net zero emissions (NZE) by 2045.
"Secondly, we also want to reverse the bad trends that have happened before, such as deforestation. So, in IKN we are reforosing or making our forests there, especially in IKN into tropical forests with biodiversity," said Bambang.

Third, IKN must be a model for other cities in Indonesia as a resilient or resilient city to change as a result of climate change.
"Finally, we want IKN not only to be a model in Indonesia, but to contribute to the world in the context of global action to face climate change," he added.
The COP28 will be held from November 30, 2023 to December 12, 2023 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
