JAKARTA - During his visit to the United States, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) witnessed the signing of a collaboration between the Archipelago State Capital Authority (IKN) with Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, Standford University.
The signing of the cooperation includes research and sustainable innovation.
Jokowi said that IKN Nusantara is a showcase for Indonesia's transformation in terms of the use of green energy, solar energy, priority plant breeding in the new capital city.
"It would be great if Standford University students conducted a study tour in the capital city of Nusantara. To be closer to seeing the process and learning about sustainability in a green and intelligent city. I will be a guide in the capital city of the archipelago if needed," Jokowi said in an OIKN press release received by VOI, Friday, November 17.
"In this kind of climate change, collaboration is very important and concrete steps are urgently needed," he added.
On the same occasion, OIKN Chief Bambang Susantono said, with this MoU, Stanford and his alumni are committed to building a world-class research center at IKN.
The research to be carried out includes water management, sustainable urban development and robotics, as well as various other relevant matters.
In the core area of IKN itself, this Stanford research center will be prepared.
Later, the results will be a provision for IKN in the development of the archipelago as a green and sustainable smart city, as well as respecting various efforts involving stakeholders.
"A few months ago Stanford submitted a letter of intent in Jakarta and agreed on collaboration in the fields of research, research, and training capacity building. Later, for more technical matters, further meetings will be held," said Bambang.
It is known that the construction of the research center owned by Standford University will begin in January or February 2024.
