Wendi Purwanto as Batam's Area Head stated that for 2023, PGN has succeeded in adding 15 new connections for commercial and industrial. "Alhamdulillah, for 2023, the market penetration plan carried out by PGN in the Batam area has succeeded in distributing natural gas to new customers in various sectors, and the majority is Batam City MSMEs. We hope that our presence to distribute clean, environmentally friendly and efficient energy, especially to Batam City MSMEs, can help business actors and local governments to increase economic growth in Batam," said Wendi, quoted on Saturday, November 11.

Wendy added that PGN's natural gas volume management in Batam has reached more than 90 BBTUDs of natural gas pipeline infrastructure along 273.46 KM. PGN's natural gas infrastructure passes through several Industrial Estates and commercial centers in Batam such as Tanjung Uncang, Panbil, Batamindo, Kabil, Batam Center, and Lubuk Baja.

Supported by reliable infrastructure and competent personnel, PGN continues to be committed to meeting market needs and potential in the Batam area spread across Batam Island, Bintan, and Kundur.

According to Wendi, reliable natural gas supply is one of the key factors in developing the use of natural gas to meet market potential needs in the Batam area.

In addition to distributing natural gas through pipes, currently PGN through its subsidiary PT Gagas Energi has also prepared natural gas distribution in the form of natural gas (CNG) compress with Gaslink Cylinder products for industry and commercial needs. This product is presented to be able to serve prospective customers who want to use natural gas but have not been reached by the PGN pipeline network.

Gaslink Cylinder is distributed using a tube with a capacity of 20-25 M3 or equivalent to 20 kilograms. Even though it is in the form of a tube, the bill payment system is the same as subscribing to pipe gases, namely calculating gas usage using meters and being paid at the end of every month after use.

Through Gagas, energy access (earth gas) is expected to increase, especially for the public as well as the industrial and commercial sectors that have not been reached by pipeline infrastructure.

We also hope that customers can benefit in the form of efficiency, practicality and reliability of supplies from the use of Gaslink, especially Gaslink Cylinder in Batam. Gaslink Cylinder is here as an alternative to natural gas distribution, especially for customers who have land limitations and the need for relative natural gas use is still small at around 300 M3 per month," he explained.

The distribution of natural gas through the beyond pipeline method in Batam city is also supplied by SPBG Batam which has been operated by Gagas since 2017. The utilization and number of natural gas customers served by SPBG Batam also continues to increase.
