JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has allocated Rp14.7 trillion for regional road repairs nationally.

The allocation of funds covers all provinces in Indonesia, except DKI Jakarta and Kalimantan

The total handled by the Ministry of PUPR is 3,140 roads for provincial and district areas and the bridge work is 2,700 meters (m) long.

One of the provinces that received a budget allocation for road repairs in the area was West Sumatra.

Head of the West Sumatra National Road Implementation Center (BPJN) Thabrani said the progress of handling regional roads in West Sumatra Province had reached 51.38 percent to date.

"The implementation of regional road inpres (IJD) is spread across 7 regencies/cities. The total length of roads handled is 29.84 kilometers (km) with the overall physical progress of handling the IJD in West Sumatra Province reaching 51.38 percent," Thabrani said in his official statement, quoted Friday, November 3.

It is known that the handling of regional roads in the province is divided into 7 physical work packages and 2 surveillance packages with a budget allocation of Rp. 147.16 billion.

The handling of the area road includes Jalan Poros-Tanjung Balik Pangkalan in Fifty Cities, Jalan Kota Payakumbuh (Jl. Rasyid Taher, Jl Prof. Dr. Hamka, and Jl. H. Agus Salim), Peningkatan Jalan Bts Payakumbuh-Sitangkai City, Jalan Tombang Padang-Silayang Mudik in West Pasaman, and Jalan Waterfront City Sunur-Balai Kurai Taji in Pariaman,

Then, there is Jalan Sungai Rumbai-Batas Solok Selatan in Dharmasraya, Jalan Sungkai-Log Batu Sandi/Batas Dharmasraya in South Solok, Jalan Kapujan-Rimbo Data in Solok, and Jalan Batas Kota Payakumbuh-Sitangkai.

Thabrani said, of the entire work package, there are some of them that are almost finished and ready to be reviewed. For example, Jalan Kota Payakumbuh, Jalan Waterfront City Sunur-Balai Kurai Taji, and Jalan Kapujan-Rimbo Data.

He added that all the work had been carried out in mid-2023 and was targeted for completion by the end of this year.

"For Jalan Kota Payakumbuh with a length of 3.66 km, the progress is 72.89 percent. Then, Jalan Waterfront City Sunur-Balai Kurai Taji with a length of 1.96 km, the progress is 44.15 percent, and Jalan Kapujan-Rimbo Data with a length of 9 km, the progress is 50.72 percent," said Thabrani.
