JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Small, Medium and Multifarious Industries (Directorate General of IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry together with Tokopedia held the Indonesia Sport and Active Wear (ISAW) 2023 Exhibition.

The exhibition was held in a hybrid manner, namely on November 1-4, 2023 at Tokopedia, and on November 2-4 at the Industrial Exhibition Plaza of the Ministry of Industry, Jakarta.

In the opening of the event, Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said, changing habits to sports interests made people tend to be consumptive to sports clothing and equipment, especially with the ease of offering from online markets in this digital era.

"With this phenomenon, the Ministry of Industry through ISAW 2023 seeks to encourage local brands of clothing and sports equipment to be able to take advantage of the potential market for clothing and sports equipment, so that not everything is filled by imported goods," said Minister of Industry Agus at the Ministry of Industry Building, Jakarta, Thursday, November 2.

Minister of Industry Agus said that it was a common challenge that the competition in the clothing market and sports equipment in Indonesia was observed to be quite large, but its development was concentrated on the presence of well-known brands from outside and major retailers who were dominant, especially in the Jakarta area and other big cities.

On the other hand, Agus said, his party received the growth of new entrepreneurs in clothing and sports equipment due to the development of digital marketing access and the development of fashion technology, which made entrepreneurs also work on the potential market for sports clothing and sports equipment in Indonesia.

"ISAW 2023 aims to be able to carry out collective activation in building ecosystems, not only branding and selling, but collectively develop a clothing ecosystem and sports equipment, which is expected to increase the competitiveness of the clothing and sports equipment industry, with efforts to synchronize with the Ministry of Industry's program in the form of domestic component level facilitation (TKDN), intellectual property (brand), engine restructuring incentives," said Agus.

Agus assessed that the role of local brands of sportswear downstream can revive other supply industries, namely the textile industry (mining industry, weaving, filing, submerging, and refinement) which is labor-intensive and supports the Indonesian economy.

"Thus, we hope that in the digital era and the disclosure of information, the government can become a collaborative medium in order to have a good strategy to be able to dominate the domestic market and expand into the global market," he said.

Agus added that his party believes that the legitimacy or agility of local clothing and sports equipment will be able to compete with digitalization strategies and conveniences.

"We hope that in the future, the younger generation will consciously make local brands in their top of mind when buying sports clothes and tools. Thus, let's buy and be proud to be made in Indonesia," he said.

For your information, the 2023 ISAW Exhibition has the theme 'Boost Up the Active Wear Market: Idea to Product' which aims to encourage local brands to develop their existing market potential.

Based on the results of the curation of participant products, the exhibitors obtained 33 local brands, which will be optimized into 40 brands with details as many as 25 local sports clothing brands, 3 local sports equipment brands, and 5 sports shoe brands.
