JAKARTA - The government plans to standardize batteries for electric motorcycles.

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang admitted, standardization of electric motorcycle batteries requires a long process and is not easy.

The reason is, an agreement must be made between the Ministry of Industry, the producer of electric motorcycles, and battery manufacturers.

"(Title hybridization) is not easy, but the conversation has been started by what we facilitated together with the perpetrators. The perpetrators not only own a motorcycle factory, but those who own the battery factory themselves," Agus told reporters at his office, Thursday, November 2.

Agus said that his party together with associations and electric motorcycle industry companies are sitting together to determine the battery standards they want to set.

According to Agus, standardizing batteries with the exchange system will make it easier for people to carry out mobility using electric motorbikes.

"Our interest is that one day, when people buy electric motorbikes in Aceh or Jogja they can use electric motorbikes to a swap place, there is no need to worry about swapping anywhere because the batteries are the same," he said.
