Minister Of Transportation Budi Karya: Development Of The Expansion Of Rangkasbitung Station Targeted To Be Completed In 2024

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said the commuter train in a day transports as many as 50,000 passengers from Banten to Jakarta.

Therefore, Rangkasbitu Station is expanded. It is targeted that phase two will be completed in 2024.

This was conveyed by Budi after visiting Rangkasbitung Station and Maja Station, Banten by air by helicopter, on Monday, October 30.

According to Budi, the increase in Rangkasbitung Station will further increase the capacity of the station, thereby increasing the safety and comfort of train service users, the number of which is increasing.

"The construction has started and we hope it can be completed in 2024. This is our effort to improve connectivity between Banten, Jakarta, and its surroundings. Later the waiting time for the arrival of the train (headway) will also be shorter, which was 15 minutes to 6 minutes or 2.5 times faster," he said, in an official statement, Monday, October 30.

Budi also appreciated the related parties who also supported efforts to improve mass transportation services, especially trains, both local governments and the private sector of regional developers.

For your information, the construction of the Rangkasbitung Phase I station expansion has started since 2022 and is currently under construction Phase 2 which is targeted for completion in August 2024.

There are a number of benefits from this development, including facilitating accessibility due to integration with the terminal and additional access to the station through the rear side, increasing the station capacity from 38,000 passengers per day to 83,000 pnp per day, increasing safety aspects by eliminating passenger crossings and closing level crossings, and improving the economy of the surrounding community.

Meanwhile, continued Budi, at Maja Station, a Transit Oriented Development (TOD) was developed by a new city developer in Maja.
