Minister Of Sandiaga Concerning Incidents On The Geong Banyumas Bridge: Not Yet Pocketing Business Permits

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Salahuddin Uno said that the 'The Geong' Glass Bridge tourist destination in Banyumas, Central Java, does not yet have a business license.

This was revealed by Menparekraf Sandiaga at The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno monitored online in Jakarta, Monday, October 30.

"Today, I want to highlight the incident of a glass bridge at the Geong tourist spot, Banyumas Regency. I remind you that the ride for the The Geong glass bridge has not yet obtained a business license," said Minister Sandiaga.

The minister, who is often called Sandi, said that the nature tourism of the Pinus Limpakawus forest, which is an area where an incident occurred on the 'The Geong' glass bridge, has also not extended the Cleanliness, Health, Safety & Environment Sustainability (CHSE) certification.

In fact, said Sandi, the CHSE certification needs to be extended once a year to find out the safety aspects in a tourist area.

"I want the underline that safety must be the main thing and when we certify 12,000 business actors, this certificate lasts for 1 year of validity and can be extended with independent capabilities," he said.

"Therefore, we remind that the nature tourism of the Limpakawus Pine Forest has been certified CHSE in 2021 with the tourism attraction category, it is unfortunate that currently the Pinus Limpakuwus Forest nature tourism has not yet carried out a re-certification," he added.

Thus, Sandiaga regretted the incident that killed a tourist and injured another person from Cilacap, Central Java, in the tourist area.

"On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, we express our deep condolences and condolences to the victims of the 'The Geong' glass bridge incident in the vicinity of the Limpakuwus Pine Forest, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, which occurred last October 25," he said.

On the same occasion, the Head of the Banyumas Regency Youth, Sports, Culture and Tourism Office (Kadisporabudpar) Setia Rahendra said that his party would summon business actors in Banyumas Regency to be given socialization related to the incident that occurred on the glass bridge 'The Geong'.

"Tomorrow, October 31st, we will collect all tourism business actors, we will provide socialization from various elements that have duties and functions, first perhaps from permits, from Public Works, from the inspectorate, and from the Regent's PJ itself," he added.

As previously reported, the incident of the breaking of the The Geong glass bridge in the Limpakuwus Pine Forest tourist area occurred on Wednesday, October 25 at around 10:00 WIB. The incident occurred when 11 tourists from Cilacap were trying out the glass bridge.

When a number of tourists were at one of the 10 meter high glass bridge points, suddenly the glass they stepped on broke. As a result, four people fell, two of which fell to the ground and two others were hanging on the bridge frame.

A tourist with the initials FA (49) was declared dead after the fall, while AI victim (41) was injured. Meanwhile, the victims who were hanging on the bridge frame were WA (39) and SSP (45).
